History

This page is being updated.

Our founderJim Wareing is known for his American and military flag displays on highway overpasses throughout Massachusetts and New Hampshire which began on September 11, 2001.  When Iraqi Freedom was launched by President George W. Bush on March 19, 2003, Mr. Wareing started sending care packages to our deployed troops in addition to maintaining the flags displays which can still be seen on many bridges throughout the New England area.

After sending care packages for more than a year using his own money, Mr. Wareing founded our charity 501(c)3 and incorporated NECFOM (New England Caring for Our Military) on September 7, 2004. In August of 2008, Denise Clegg was appointed Director of NECFOM.

As of December 17, 2010, NECFOM has shipped 27,695 care packages containing products collected by students, seniors, churches and other organizations valued over $800,600 to our deployed troops.

Additionally, NECFOM has mailed more than 71,525 cards and letters to our troops utilizing more than 22,540 volunteers made up of students and civic organizations throughout the New England area.

NECFOM helps organizations who gather these products by offering to pay for packaging and postage to ship them overseas. This enables many organizations to have their own care package drives to support our troops and not have to worry about the cost of buying boxes and paying postage.

NECFOM has expanded our activities to also help families in need when they lose an active duty military family member while on active duty.

NECFOM can offer to assist with the funeral planning, making of church bulletins and also to help provide and set up a mercy meal for up to 200 people free of charge.   We find that this time of distress for the families is very difficult so please contact us if you know of anyone in need who are in Massachusetts or New Hampshire.
