Fouty's stepfather, Gordy Dibler of Oxford, said he's pleased with the charity's efforts. He's trying to plan a prayer vigil in the Oxford area for Wednesday -- the two-month anniversary of the raid in which the soldiers were captured.

To contribute to the care package drive, send tax-deductible contributions to NECFOM, P.O. Box 2311, Methuen, MA, 01844. The deadline to contribute is Saturday. For more information, visit www.necfom.org.

OXFORD: Donations sought for care packages

A Massachusetts man is collecting money and donations to send care packages to troops searching for two missing soldiers in Iraq, including one from metro Detroit.

Jim Wareing, who founded the nonprofit group New England Caring for Our Military, or NECFOM, in 2004, plans to send about 10,000 care packages later this month to the troops searching for Spec. Alex Jimenez of Massachusetts and Pvt. Byron Fouty, who grew up in Oakland County.
